Susan Pecora • Provincetown
“I spent my childhood in Marblehead hearing stories from my mother about her summers spent in Wellfleet and Provincetown, where her grandparents and great grandparents were born and raised. My dad would take us on his boat up the coastline to Provincetown and all around the Outer Cape so naturally, when I decided to become a professional artist, the first place I looked for a gallery was in Provincetown, known as America's first art colony. I have been painting there ever since. I love the combination of architecture, working class fishing community, and the beauty and desolation of the dunes and the ocean, especially off season when I can see the "bones" of the landscape and town.
I paint in watercolor, egg tempera, and oil. My first gallery representation in the 80s was The Ellen Harris Gallery. She was my mentor and first guide into the business of creating and selling art and I am forever grateful to her for believing in me.”
