Boys and their toys will both be in Provincetown from September 5 to 7, when the Yankee Lambda car club weekend brings classic cars and their owners to Provincetown for a weekend of joyrides and showboating.

An annual event, the Yankee Lambda weekend is now in its 13th year and will take place for 2008 with the theme of “The Beaches, Bars and Buoys of Provincetown.”
The weekend offers car enthusiasts a number of opportunities to vaunt their motorized prize and admire the other assembled classics. And it includes many social events, such as cocktail parties, brunches, and an awards ceremony.
The highlights – for both the car club members and for other Provincetown visitors – are the annual car show at the base of the Pilgrim Monument and the parade of cars down Commercial Street.
The Yankee Chapter Lambda Car Club is a chapter of the Lambda Car Club International, a gay classic car owner’s society that was founded in 1981 and today has thousands of members in more than 26 regional chapters.
The club offers gay car enthusiasts an opportunity to socialize through events such as the Provincetown gathering. Members of the club need only have a love for classic automobiles; actual ownership of a classic car is not required.
In addition to a slate of annual events, the Lambda Car Club also publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, “The Driveshaft,” for its members with information about automotive goings-on.
