November Happenings!

November 5th, 2013

Though the pace of life has slowed a bit with the crisp winds of fall, there are still plenty of shops open every weekend, still the windswept National Seashore to explore, and a variety of annual traditions that can provide you with fun, relaxation and cozy warmth!

Many art galleries are holding current exhibitions that will extend until early December or January

Here's a great way to warm your wallet a bit – parking in all municipal lots is free for the winter! Just park and explore to your heart's content. The hardest part is remembering where you left the car.

Through the long winters, locals create new traditions to help pass the free time, one of which is our renowned Mews Coffeehouse, which begins on November 4th! Now in its 23rd year, the coffeehouse is hosted by musician Peter Donnelly and radio DJ Ron Robin, and features local and nationally known performers, as well as an “Open Mic” session following each performance. It's cozy, it's casual, and it's a great way to wind down from a busy day! Upcoming performers include pianist John Thomas, Marcia Mello, Penny Arcade, our own Zoe Lewis and her band The Bootleggers and many more. Part of the proceeds of each coffeehouse will benefit local radio station WOMR and the Provincetown Theater.

For the guys, November 8-10 brings Provincetown Mens' Weekend, which will offer a Meet-and-Eat reception, a Disco Night, Underwear Party, a piano bar, a Leather Night and more. Hosted by The Gifford House and the Watership Inn, the event is a consolidation of the Single Men's and Meet Your Man weekends, and most events will be held at the Gifford House property, with no cover charges!

Those with a more artistic focus might enjoy the Provincetown Theater's 2013 Fall Playwright’s Festival, November 7-10th, which will present nine 10-minute and two one-act plays, including “Another Day in Paradise” by Joe Starzyk, “Terminal Gate” by Lucy Blood, and “Tennis, Anyone?” by Candace Perry. Performances at 7:30 pm each night, with 2:00 pm shows on the 9th and 10th, and tickets are $10 for adults! You can purchase tickets through a link on their website. In addition, many art galleries are holding current exhibitions which extend until early December or January, so there is plenty of art around to satisfy your aesthetic eye!

Are you in the mood for romantic Sunday night dinner-for-two? Beginning on November 10th, Massachusetts residents of towns from Hyannis to Provincetown can enjoy Front Street's “Loco for Locals” special, which offers a 3-course dinner for $20 per person. It's a great way to finish off a day trip to Provincetown, while treating yourself to fine American, Continental and Italian cuisine in an intimate setting! If you're a Cape “neighbor,” why not come on down?

Another option is Ciro & Sal's, which offers nightly early-bird inner specials from 5:30-6:30, as well as a two-for special Pasta Night! Relax with fireside dining in their cozy wine cellar space; it will chase the chill from your bones! The Hot L Bar & Grille not only has a fantastic Sunday breakfast buffet for $10, but they offer Early-bird specials on Monday-Thursday nights from 4-6 pm, and a generous, tasty and filling Fish Fry every Friday night for $13. They boast great variety, a casual dining experience and very friendly and skilled wait staff!

The Crown and Anchor plays host to a new event for the fetish community with the Mr. New England Leather Weekend, November 22-24th. A weekend of celebrations, Mr. New England Leather will encompass events including; a meet and greet, socials, the contest itself as well as after-parties and dinners throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

And you thought November was a dull month? Come let us show you it isn’t!
