4th Annual Cabaret Fest

The 4th Annual Cabaret Fest in Provincetown runs from April 12-14 for three shows and features highly talented cabaret singers and musicians from Cape Cod and around the country.

Jazz and cabaret vocalist Dan Vanatter, a Bistro Awards winner, has performed for several years at the annual Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention in New York

On Friday night, the entertainment kicks off with Sandwich native Jessica Curran, a jazz singer and featured performer with the legendary Stage Door Canteen, who has appeared with Bart Weisman at the Grand Cru and Ty Newcomb's Cape Cod Conservatory Big Band. Next, jazz and cabaret vocalist Dan Vanatter takes the stage. This Bistro Awards winner has performed for several years at the annual Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention in New York, as well as Pittsburgh’s First Fridays at the Frick, the Fairmont Hotel’s Jazz at Andy’s and James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy. Dane is working on his 4th CD “Give Me Something Real”.

Saturday night’s show features Brian De Lorenzo as the opener, with Lynda D'Amour as the headliner. Brian is a Talent America's 2001 "Performer of the Year", and has performed in a variety of venues in Boston, New York, Provincetown, Chicago, San Francisco, and cruise ships in Alaska and the Mediterranean. He has numerous theater credits and has been nominated three times for an IRNE Award for Best Cabaret Show. Ms. D’Amour is a jazz, blues, pop, and show tune vocalist who has performed in Boston, New York and on Cape Cod. She has performed her critically acclaimed show, ONE COOL CAT: Sammy Davis, Jr. Songbook in New York City and just released her CD, “Ordinary Fool.” Recently she received 2 nominations in the BroadwayWorld Cabaret Awards Best CD Release and Best Female Vocalist.

Rounding out the weekend brings the song stylings of Jan Peters. Ms. Peters is a Eugene O’Neill Cabaret Symposium Fellow who has received the Improper Bostonian Best Cabaret Act 2005, Independent Reviewers of New England Best Female Cabaret Artist 2002, Bay Windows Best Cabaret Performer 2002. Jan’s cabaret show "Old Fashioned, Please!" was named one of Boston’s Top Ten and her debut CD, "Somebody Come and Play" continues to receive rave reviews. Her recent performances include Mabel Mercer’s 21st Anniversary Celebration at Lincoln Center in New York, the debut of her new show, "I Feel A Song Coming On" at The Cultural Center Theater in Port Charlotte, Florida, The Jazz On A Sunday Afternoon Performance Series in New Hampshire and Boston’s Riverside Theater Works Cabaret Festival.

Providing instrumental accompaniment are Cape Cod natives Fred Boyle (piano), Bart Weisman (drums), and Laird Boyle (bass). Fred and Laird are also known for playing locally with Suede and with Bart Weisman’s Klezmer Swing Group, and for performing at the only Jazz Jam on the Cape, held at the Island Merchant in Hyannis, MA. Bart is the Founder, Executive Producer & Performer for the Provincetown Jazz Festival, performs for the PAAM’s summer and winter jazz concerts series, and his Group recently opened for the Boston Pops.
All shows take place at the Crown & Anchor; the Friday and Saturday night shows begin at 8 p.m. the Sunday brunch concert starts at 11:30 a.m. Ticket prices range from $25 for the Dane Vanatter show on Friday night to $75 for the 3-show “Whole Note” package of all three performances.

Lodging specials are also available for this spectacular weekend. The Crowne Point Inn, Brass Key Guesthouse, Gifford House Inn and the Prince Albert Inn are all offering a third night at 50% off when you stay two nights.
