Enjoy a November Novelty

Offbeat bingo, great theater, boy toys and delectable dining!

November 5th, 2012

November brings a variety of entertainments to enjoy at your leisure here in Provincetown, from classic theater comedy to offbeat bingo games, boy toys and delectable dining for a cause!

Tiki can be described as fun, fabulous and twisted,” and “she gives a whole new meaning to the word ‘cougar’”.

The Provincetown Theater will be presenting the Joseph Kesselring play, “Arsenic and Old Lace,” a hysterical tale of murder, madness and mayhem. Performances run November 8, 9 and 10 at 7:30 pm, as well as on November 18th at 2 pm. You’ll be rolling in the aisle laughing at the misadventures of newlywed drama critic Mortimer Brewster, his two dotty aunts who bump off lonely old gentlemen with arsenic-laced wine, the uncle who believes he’s Teddy Roosevelt and who buries the bodies, and other assorted motley characters! According to Mortimer, “even the cat’s in on it!” It’s good macabre fun for all ages.

She’s baaack! I speak, of course, of the inimitable Tiki Bronstein, who will be calling the numbers and wisecracking her way through the night at the weekly Wednesday night A-House Drag Bingo at the A-House. The first game of the season begins on Wednesday November 7th at 9 pm, in the Little Bar. Tiki can be described as fun, fabulous and twisted,” and “she gives a whole new meaning to the word ‘cougar’”.

Whether you’re single and looking for a good man, or you already have one and just want to get out and socialize, the Men’s Weekend, November 9-11, is the place for you. Men's Weekend has taken the events known as Single Men's Weekend and Meet Your Man Weekend, and combined them into a single event celebrating all men, regardless of marital or relationship status. Planned activities include a meet-and-greet dinner and 70's Disco at Club Purgatory on Friday; a Tea Dance, and later an Underwear Party at Club Purgatory on Saturday; and a late-night Leather Party on Sunday. There will also be a piano sing-a-long at the Gifford House Porchside Bar on both Saturday and Sunday evenings.

If you’d rather simply enjoy a fine meal, you still have many options available. On November 8th, you have your choice of community dinners for socializing and sating your hunger. Jimmy’s Hideaway is holding their Community Appreciation night, with a prix fixe menu giving you a choice of soup or salad, choice of four entrees, dessert and coffee for $21.95. Billing itself “Provincetown's Hidden Treasure for great food and fun,” Jimmy’s received a rave review from the Cape Cod Times this summer for both food and service, and it’s been rated “excellent” by 117 diners on TripAdvisor. Enjoy.

Alternately, you might prefer your evening out to benefit a nonprofit. For you, the Provincetown Film Society is holding their Bonny Doon Wine Dinner at the Crown and Anchor at 7 pm. This event offers a six-course dinner, each served with a different complementary wine. Foodies and wine connoisseurs alike will delight in this elegant evening, and proceeds benefit the Film Society’s capital campaign.
