A Non-Stop Cabaret Weekend
At the First-Ever Provincetown Cabaret Fest
By Kahrin Deines
May 4th, 2008
The sounds of cabaret are set to take over Provincetown for a non-stop weekend of song starting May 16.
 | The weekend will come to a close on May 18 with a brunch and performance by “Boston’s First Lady of Cabaret,” Carol O’Shaughnessy, at The Crown and Anchor. |
|
New for 2008, the Provincetown Cabaret Fest is bringing together close to 20 singers and musicians to perform for three song-filled days at land’s end. All of the weekend’s performers hail from Cape Cod towns or Boston.
The festival will begin with an opening night concert at the Vixen Nightclub on May 16, featuring Dane Vannatter, Patricia Fitzpatrick, Brian Patton, Lisa Jason, Carol Wyeth, Celeste Howe, Tedi Marsh, Casey Sanderson and Denise Parks.

It will continue with a “Cabaret Inn Fest Stroll” on May 17 that will run from 10 a.m. all the way to 1 a.m. For the cabaret stroll, some of Provincetown’s most beautiful inns are hosting intimate performances in their living rooms with five different vocalists.
The participating inns include White Wind Inn, Beaconlight Guesthouse and Brass Key Guesthouse.
Two more performances – Bobby Wetherbee at The Crown and Anchor and Casey and Denise at the Gifford House’s Porchside Bar – will keep the singing going late into the night. Wetherbee has been a favorite in Provincetown and Boston for years, while Casey and Denise started performing together as students at Provincetown High School in the ‘90s.
The next day Dane Vannatter and Patricia Fitzpatrick will both perform afternoon shows. Vannatter has a unique vocal style that has wowed critics from New York to Boston. Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, is a highly respected entertainer, comedian and vocalist as well.
In the evening, the String of Pearls trio will perform with Tony Regusis on piano, Chris Rathbun on bass, and Bart Weismann on drums.
The weekend will then come to a close on May 18 with a brunch and performance by “Boston’s First Lady of Cabaret” Carol O’Shaughnessy at The Crown and Anchor.
