Bears on the Run
Set to Perform at The Crown April 12
By Kahrin Deines
April 5th, 2008
Bears are known for their appreciation of plenty – plenty of girth and plenty at the table.
 | The “Bears on the Run” group consists of performers Shannon Grady, Elijah Black, Bobaloo, Kendall and Matthew Temple. |
|
Why not then in their entertainment too?
A new performance group, “Bears on the Run,” seems to think so anyways. With five different members, representing styles of performance from all across the board, “Bears on the Run” is offering audiences abundant fare indeed.

The group completed its first tour last fall, visiting numerous venues in the Midwest and the South. Now they are coming Northeast for a spring tour, and they will be in Provincetown on April 12 at The Crown and Anchor’s Paramount Nightclub.
The “Bears on the Run” group consists of performers Shannon Grady, Elijah Black, Bobaloo, Kendall and Matthew Temple.
Grady, a singer-songwriter, has released two independently produced albums. He has been a favorite at recent Bearapalooza Festivals, and it was his idea to bring “Bears on the Run” together.
Fellow musician Matthew Temple, meanwhile, brings some folk style into the group. Temple has been writing and performing since the mid-60s, and he recently released his first album “The Journey.” The “Bears on the Run” also have a rock emissary in member Elijah Black, who has opened for Motley Crue, Kings X, Styx, Cinderella and Ratt, among many others.
The group is not all about serious songs and sounds, though.
Stand-up comic Bobaloo is also a “bear on the run.” Bobaloo has been performing in the gay comedy scene for the last six years and he just finished a full-length comedy DVD and CD.
And then there is Kendall, a singer-songwriter, a dancing bear and a video skit artist. He released his first album, “Rekindled,” in 2005, and his video “Hip Hop Dykes” won best short at the Rochester Gay and Lesbian Film Festival last year.
The “Bears on the Run” will perform at 8 p.m. on April 12 at The Crown and Anchor’s Paramount Nightclub. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the “Bears on the Run” Web site or at The Crown and Anchor. To find out more about their performance at The Crown, call 508.487.1430.
