If winter in the city is getting you down, perk up your spirits with a little retail therapy, Provincetown style! You can find some vibrantly colored, unique home items that will breathe a little spring into your home, at special deals!
For the homebody, Utilities is like a trip to a candy store! If you're a butter-fingers like me, you'll love the Lifefactory wine and beverage glasses which come with colorful protective silicone sleeves, in sets of two or four, in single color or assorted color sets! Maybe you'd prefer a splash of tropical brights with Harman or Rope Company floor mats, the Caribbean shades of Pacific Merchants Resort Collection table mats, handcrafted Totally Bamboo cutting and serving blocks, or generously-sized, two-tone Gordon Blue coffee mugs? If you need a new kitchen appliance or cookware, you'll find popular brands like Cuisinart, Oxo, Krups, Waring, Anchor Hocking bakeware and much more. If your dog is a sloppy eater, you can even find cute pet mats to keep Rover's dining corner clean and dry! The best part? You get 20% off the price marked for everything in the store!
Check out the confetti-hued coasters by ThingThing of Detroit, made from recycled laundry detergent bottles, which are shredded then melted to create the unique designs.
Down the street at Botanica, you'll find delicate and unusual air plants, and lovely pastel glass “bubbles” to house them! These little plants need no soil, and care is as simple as misting them with water every other day! Use clear plastic line or thin wire to hang the bubbles from the ceiling, and create corner of living spring in any room! Plants range from $2.50-19.50 and the “bubbles” are priced $6.50-46.50, both depending on size. You can also choose from clear, pink, violet, green and amber bubbles in a variety of shapes! Opt for splashes of color on your walls, with the matted or framed photos of Cape Cod, Provincetown, and night time-exposure shots from artist Jeff Hitchcock in sizes ranging from 18x24” to 9x12”!
Another big seller at Botanica are the Motawi wall tiles, in a wide variety of designs including some very new to the shop! If you're an animal lover, check out Botanica's best-selling wildlife mugs and snack plates by Two Can Art. Created by artist Patti Gray and her non-verbal autistic son Noah, they feature painted figures of bear, red fox, rabbit, moose, grey wolf, owl and goose in natural settings. Mugs are $15.95 and plates are $10.95, and a portion of the proceeds of each sale goes toward charities for autistic kids! Again, everything in the shop (except for the Hitchcock and other artist or commission art) is 20% off!
At Room 68, it's a great time to shop because most items in the store are between 20-50% off! Check out the confetti-hued coasters by ThingThing of Detroit, made from recycled laundry detergent bottles, which are shredded then melted to create the unique designs of these little artistically handy items! For the wall, consider the 9x9” James Muston III screen prints on wood! These delightful hangings present an abstract, rather geometrical pattern in bright Caribbean shades of blue, yellow, orange and green, sure to bring summer light to any room!
Want art? You don't have to break the bank to have a quality piece! Head over to Bill Evaul's Studio and Gallery and you can purchase 100% archival giclee prints ($50-$250, depending on size} featuring images from some of his original white-line wood cut paintings, which can range in price up to $18,000. Sizes range from 8.5x11” up to 16x20”, feature a variety of themes, and the colors and details make these a fabulous choice to bring life to the most boring wall!
How about an artistically modern wall-mounted time-piece? With the bright colors and unique designs at Century, watching the clock will never be boring again!
