New Season, New Temptations

Dining Delights

April 25th, 2014

New Season, New Temptations

One of the town's “grande dames, The Red Inn is turning 99 this year, and the restaurant is celebrating its 13th anniversary as well!

Spring in Provincetown is truly revitalizing – crisp breezes, air scrubbed clean by the winter, blooming flowers, a cacophony of birdsong, frequent whale sightings (including the incredibly rare bowhead!), and the return of both established favorite restaurants and exciting new places to try!

Tin Pan Alley is a new restaurant/lounge with live entertainment in the center of Provincetown, featuring a seasonal menu of locally sourced foods. Executive Chef Chris Nebel brings seasonal American cuisine with an emphasis on fresh seafood and locally-sourced ingredients, to is classy but comfortable and casual decor, and live entertainment each night. Although the schedule is still coming together, our own Jim Brosseau and Chev Hardy will provide the weekly performances at the Alley's Sunday brunch! There will also be outdoor seating on their harbor view deck, which they hope to set up and use for daytime seating by Memorial Day! Tin Pan Alley will be open Thursday-Sunday starting April 24th, starting serving nightly dinner on May 5th, and will operate seven nights a week until January 4, 2015!

Back Street is also New American cuisine, with Cuban, French and Southwestern influences. The eclectic menu is the purview of Executive Chef Raul Garcia, formerly of Edwige, brings these influences to appetizers like Grilled Lobster Cocktail with
Mango, Coconut milk, and Lime-Chile Plantain Chips as well as entrees such as Marinated Grilled Tuna with Apricot-Mint Glaze and Green-Chile Toasted Pine Nut Quinoa! If you're in town, their opening party will be held April 29th from 5-8 pm, and they'll will be open Thursday-Sundays for dinner until May 27th, when they go to nightly hours.

One of the town's “grande dames,” The Red Inn, is turning 99 this year, and the restaurant is celebrating its 13th anniversary as well! The restaurant re-opened for Happy Hour and dinner on April 17th, and they are celebrating their annual Opening Party on May 7th – it can be a mad crush, but I never miss this one! Both the inn and dining room will be open 7 days a week starting Thursday, May 8th, and they are currently accepting dinner reservations through Mother's Day (5/11). Their menu sets the standard for a fine dining experience, from their seafood-sampler appetizers (which include lobster tail), to their roasted Long Island duck, Blackened Rainbow Trout with crawfish Creole sauce, to their luxuriously decadent desserts, you'll enjoy the ultimate dining experience with one of the most stunning harbor views in town!

Saki celebrates its 5th anniversary this year, beginning with their Grand opening party on Thursday May 8th at 6:00 pm, and will open for regular nightly service the following day, Friday May 9th at 5:30 pm! This centrally located spot next to Town Hall is a great choice, not only for sushi lovers, but for vegetarians, with many meatless options, but take heart, carnivores! They also offer a 14 oz. Sirloin, a 10 oz. Filet mignon and a Bento Box burger, so there is something to please every palate! The décor is unique and creative, the staff is fun and friendly and the food is fabulous!

Also coming are Opening parties for Victor's restaurant on April 30th from 5-9 pm; Central house at the Crown and Anchor on May 5th from 5-8:30 pm, and Sal's Place on May 28th from 6-8:30 pm. Victor's re-opens May 1st for Thursday to Sunday service, the Central House will be open for six day a week service on May 1st, and Sal's Place re-opens May 8th for Thursday through Monday service!
