A Place by the Sea – Book Your 2013 Provincetown Vacation Now

“pet-friendly reservations go quickly, because so many people want to bring their pets with them.”

Are you dreaming of summer? Whether you’re planning for a weekend escape, a week’s vacation or a summer season on Cape Cod, Provincetown offers variety of fun, the natural beauty and accommodations to suit any traveler, from those who prefer to stay close to nature to those who desire the ultimate in gracious waterfront living!

I talked to Bea Smith, rental agent for Coldwell Banker Pat Shultz Real Estate, for the lowdown on rentals for the coming season. Her advice? Start early! While the agency has some seasonal rentals remaining, many people booked in October/November for many seasonal rentals, as well as holiday weeks. “We have a few season-long, one and two bedrooms available, but Bear Week is nearly fully booked and Carnival Week is quickly filling up,” she said. In general, seasonal rentals can range in quality and price from a low of $6,000 for the season, up to $23,000.

If you’re looking for weekly rentals, Smith has a few tips to make planning easier. First, know which week or weeks you want to come, decide how many bedrooms you want, how many people will be staying in the rental, and an idea of location. Do you want to be in the East End or West End? Do you prefer to park your car for the week and be within walking distance of the center of town? Also, decide how much you want to spend, and also tell the agent if you wish to bring your dog. In many instances, condo rentals may not allow dogs because their condo documents prohibit dogs for renters. On average, weekly rentals range from $850-$9,200 per week, again depending on location and amenities.
She recommends visiting their website and scanning through their available properties now, and said that she’s available to speak with any prospective renters or walk them through the selection process. She can be reached at (508) 487-9550 x103.

I also checked in with Lucy Brown of Thomas D. Brown Real Estate. She confirmed that for the best selection, you need to plan your vacation time carefully, know your budget and bedroom needs, and book before the end of February. Also she noted, “pet-friendly reservations go quickly, because so many people want to bring their pets with them.”

For the camping/RVing fan, you have a couple of options. Dunes Edge is located along Route 6 in Provincetown. This lovely site has a cute general store, only 85 spaces and super-clean shower facilities. With a smile for everyone, owner Miriam Collinson is like your mom away from home. Walking paths lead to the National Seashore, yet it’s only ten minutes from the heart of Commercial Street. Off West Vine Street, you’ll find Coastal Acres. Maintained by the Phillips and Perry families, this camping court is a favorite for seasonal renters and overnighters alike. Near a pond, reviewers say to bring a screened enclosure and go for a shady site.

Our website is a valuable resource for finding the property you want. Check out Vacation Rentals in our Accommodations Section. You will also find many Guesthouse and Inns & Motels. You can also search for vacation homes in our Finders, located across the top of the Home Page. You'll find camping options in our Outdoor Section.
