CCNS presents “Bicycle Safety at the Seashore”

Open to the public, this event will feature helmet fittings, fun activities for kids, bicycle safety checks, and educational displays. Prizes for participation, such as helmets, bike accessories, raffles, and coupons may be available while supplies last. Educational topics will include how to fit a helmet properly, preparing for a ride with an ABC bicycle quick check, the consequences of a bicycle crash, as well as other interesting facts about bicycle safety at the seashore. Join us for this fun-filled event and for your chance to walk away with information that will keep you and your family safe.

The last week of July is Family Week in Provincetown, and Cape Cod National Seashore will add to the festivities with a special event for kids and parents. Province Lands Visitor Center will host its second annual Mini-Fest featuring games, crafts, and music. At 2 PM, Kitty Hendricks Miller from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Museum will lead an hour of fun with native toys, games, and songs. Then at 3 PM, enjoy a lively performance by local musicians Zoe Lewis and Peter Donnelly.


Province Lands Road Reconstruction

Superintendent George Price announces that Province Lands Road, between Race Point Road and the entrance to Herring Cove Beach, will be closed for reconstruction between November 1, 2014 and mid-March 2015. Work includes resurfacing 2.4 miles of Province Lands Road, realigning the entrance road to Herring Cove Beach parking lot, and replacing two existing bicycle trail bridges with concrete box culverts to increase the overhead clearance for bicyclists passing under Province Lands Road. Detour signs will be posted identifying Race Point Road as the alternate route to Provincetown Airport, Race Point Beach, and the Province Lands Visitor Center.

every day of each week from May 1st through Oct 31st at 9AM
Cape Cod National Seashore’s Province Lands Visitor Center, located on a high dune at the tip of the Cape in Provincetown, has opened for the 2014 season. Hours of operation are 9 AM to 5 PM daily. The center has rangers on duty to provide assistance to visitors and residents about ways to enjoy the seashore and learn about its diverse resources. There is also a well-stocked book and gift store, managed by the national seashore’s education partner, Eastern National. Observation decks provide spectacular views of the Outer Beach, Cape Cod Bay, and the Gulf of Maine, where whales can often be observed. Short
