Naomi Shelton has been a key player in the soulful revival that's been heating up for the past few years. Shelton's powerful personality connects her to Daptone labelmate Sharon Jones, but grit and sense of the groove also recall the music of younger Southerners the Alabama Shakes.

10 Mckoy Rd. Look for our sign on Route 6. | Elks Lodge | Eastham

$18 Apr 4th, 2015 at 730PM
We're calling it Biscuits & Blues partly because The Elks has one of the best kitchens around, a gorgeous lounge... you can come in an hour before the show and have a drink, order a burger, nachos... and relax at a table setting. The room gives us --- and the Music Artist! --- a little more room... to move around, dance, mingle. A musical force equipped with the soulful vocals of Janis and the guitar slinging skills of Stevie Ray, Carolyn Wonderland reaches into the depths of the Texas blues tradition with the wit of a poet.

The Guitar duo of Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge is a collaborative effort founded in the roots of acoustic music, exploring the worlds of improvisation and composition. With Lage’s background in modern jazz and new music, and Eldridge’s deep relationship with bluegrass as well as his being a member of the widely acclaimed bands this duo lives at the nexus of improvisation, spontaneous composition, and virtuosic refinement, all performed on their respective 1939 Martin guitars.

We're so excited to get Dom Flemons back here for the 4th time in as many years! In his first three appearances here he starred with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, and now he's back with his own trio to add a special cachet to the Payomet Fall-Winter Music Series. Dom is one of the great American masters, a singer from a world and time beyond as well as a multi-instrumentalist who plays the bones, and the quills. He's a walking historical encyclopedia of early American music, from country and old-time blues to nearly forgotten African American folk music.

Taylor is not only a consummate musician and musical storyteller, but he is a humorist in the tradition of Will Rogers, taking the events of the day, or life’s many milestones, and intertwining them with funny interludes of social commentary between musical numbers. His relaxed onstage presence belies the depth of his musical knowledge, and fans might just as often be treated to a classic Gershwin or something from the best of Broadway.

Catherine Russell is "One of the outstanding singers of our time...she continually shows how jazz, blues and the Great American Songbook are all different sides of one three-sided coin.” - Wall Street Journal

Singer/pianist Marcia Ball and her band know how to raise roofs and tear down walls with an infectious, intelligent and deeply emotional brand of southern boogie, rollicking, roadhouse blues and heartfelt ballads. Over the course of her three-decade career, Ball has earned a huge and intensely loyal following all over the world. Her exquisite piano playing and passionate, playful vocals fuse New Orleans and Gulf Coast R&B with Austin’s deep songwriting tradition into a sound No Depression described as “a little rock, a lot of roll, a pinch of rhythm and a handful of blues.” Her band is so tight, absolutely rockin, too.

“Delbert's an erudite, urbane sophisticate, wrapped up as a roadhouse singer. There’s nothing contradictory in his character – he’s a real Texan. Neither the intellectual nor the roadhouse singer is a put-on. They come in equal parts. He's one of a kind, he’s amazing. He defies the categories and slips right through.”
